I signed up for a TextDrive “VC” account a couple years ago. I wanted a simple place that let me use cool tools (like Rails) and liked the idea of no monthly fees (which can be hard to justify to the family accountant). Long story short performance and reliability were not all I expected, but it worked for my (very basic) needs.

As of this week, I am using Joyent’s new Solaris based shared hosting — they upgraded us. Things so far seem much faster, as for reliability, time will tell, but I understand they can reboot these things very quickly, so even if/when there are problems it should come back in less then 5 minutes.

So far I do not have Vlad working — I don’t think it will be impossible, I will keep you up to date.

I have not been a good blogger. But I am going to give it another go.
